UK’s Petrofac confirmed on Tuesday that it has been awarded a $615 million Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract by ADNOC Gas to build one of the largest carbon capture projects in the Mena region.
The contract involves the delivery of carbon capture units, associated pipeline infrastructure and a network of wells for carbon dioxide recovery and injection, according to Petrofac’s statement.
The project will be located at the Habshan gas processing plant, 150 kilometres southwest of Abu Dhabi, the project is part of ADNOC’s accelerated decarbonisation plan.
“This large-scale project reaffirms our steadfast commitment to maximising energy output while minimising our emissions, steering us toward a more sustainable and environmentally responsible future,” ADNOC CEO Ahmed Alebri said.
