EgyptAir opens a new direct route from Cairo to Shanghai
EgyptAir opens a new direct route between Cairo International Airport and Shanghai Pudong International Airport, whereas the first flight took off on Friday, according to its announcement on Sunday.
The airline is offering a 25 percent discount on tickets for the new route, which is a valid offer until November 30.
The new route is set to have three weekly flights on Saturdays, Thursdays and Tuesdays, operating with the 777-300 Boeing model.
EgyptAir is hoping to increase the rate next year to one flight a day, Mohamed Khaled Fouad, general manager of EgyptAir China, said.
The company also announced earlier this year the launch of two new routes; to Manchester, UK, which will be active mid-July, next year.
The other route will be to Delhi, India, which will start operating in August. As part of the airline’s expansion plans, more routes were also added to Dhaka, Bangladesh, and Newark, New Jersey.
It’s noteworthy that EgyptAir broke the record back in April with 1.35 million tourists, which helped revive the country’s tourism sector after it got hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
Ahmed Issa, Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities stated that the country aims to attract 15 million visitors in 2023, surpassing the previous record of 14.7 million set in 2010.
