The Egyptian Competition Authority’s (ECA) head, Mahmoud Momtaz, discussed with his Nigerian counterpart means to enhance co-operation in combating monopolistic practices, according to a statement obtained by Amwal Al Ghad English on Tuesday.
Momtaz and his Nigerian counterpart agreed to improve technical co-operation and information exchange regarding the enforcement of competition laws and policies. They also discussed the exchange of visits, organising training courses, and participation in conferences, seminars, workshops, as well as other events.
During the visit, the Nigerian delegation received an overview of the following critical areas: ECA’s strategy and work axes for 2021-2025, and the recent legal amendments to the Competition Protection Law No. 3 of 2005.
It is noteworthy that Egypt hosted the African Heads of Competition Authorities Dialogue (AHCAD) at the authority’s headquarters, under the auspices of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly.
