Russian stocks surge at Wednesday’s open

The Russian stock market opened higher on Wednesday, with the MOEX Index climbing 0.96 per cent to 3,217.63 points and the dollar-denominated RTS Index up by 0.79 per cent to 1,140.29 points, according to trading data at 10:00 am Moscow time (07:00 am GMT) cited by TASS.

By 10:20 am (07:20 am GMT), the MOEX had increased by 0.99 per cent to 3,218.49 points, while the RTS was up by 0.78 per cent to 1,140.17 points.

In currency markets, the dollar exchange rate rose by 0.15 per cent to 88.93 roubles on the Moscow Exchange, the euro increased by 0.13 per cent to 96.73 roubles, and the yuan was up by 0.18 per cent to 12.251 roubles.
