AATB boosts Arab-African trade co-operation

The Arab Africa Trade Bridges (AATB) Programme concluded its 4th Board of Governors Meetings on July 2, 2024, in Tunis, Tunisia, alongside the Tunisia Africa Business Meeting (TABM). The event marked significant progress in trade and economic co-operation between Africa and the Arab world.

Tunisian Minister of Economy and Planning, Feryel Ouerghi Sebai, highlighted the AATB Programme’s importance in strengthening Arab-African economic ties.

Agreements signed included Egypt’s membership renewal, support for the Common African Agro-Parks Programme, and a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between the Tunisian Agency for Technical Cooperation and the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC).

Moreover, the meetings highlighted the AATB Programme’s US$1.5 billion Food Security Programme.

The AATB Programme, supported by Afreximbank and other major organisations, aims to enhance trade, provide trade finance and export credit insurance, and focus on key sectors such as agriculture, health, infrastructure, and technology.
