UK unemployment rate falls to 4.2% for April to June ’24

The UK unemployment rate for April to June 2024 dropped to 4.2 per cent, improving from the previous year and declining in the latest quarter, a labour force survey by Office for National Statistics (ONS) showed on Tuesday.

Despite this positive trend, the employment rate stood at 74.5 per cent, slightly below the rate from a year ago but showing an increase over the most recent quarter.

In contrast, the economic inactivity rate was 22.2 per cent, higher than the rate from the same period last year, though it remained largely unchanged in the latest quarter.
