Euro area employment growth slows in Q2 ’24

Euro area employment grew by 0.2 per cent in the second quarter of 2024, seasonally adjusted, marking a slowdown from the 0.3 per cent growth in the first quarter of 2024.

In the European Union (EU), employment also grew by 0.2 per cent in the second quarter, maintaining the same pace as in the previous quarter. Year-on-year, employment rose by 0.8 per cent in the euro area and by 0.7 per cent in the EU during the second quarter of 2024.

This is a deceleration from the 1.0 per cent increase in the euro area and 0.9 per cent in the EU observed in the first quarter of 2024.
