S. Arabia’s WPI up to 3.1% in July 

Saudi Arabia’s Wholesale Price Index (WPI) increased by 3.1 per cent annually in July 2024, driven mainly by an 8.3 per cent rise in other transportable goods. This category’s growth was led by a 15.7 per cent jump in basic chemicals and a 12.0 per cent increase in refined petroleum products.

Prices for food products, beverages, tobacco, and textiles also rose by 0.9 per cent, with a 5.0 per cent increase in leather goods and a 4.4 per cent rise in grain mills and food products contributing to this trend.

However, the WPI decreased by 0.1 per cent from June 2024. This decline was due to a 0.3 per cent drop in agricultural and fishery products, including a 5.0 per cent decrease in live animals and a 3.0 per cent decline in agricultural products.

Metal products, machinery, and equipment prices fell by 0.3 per cent, primarily due to a 1.2 per cent decrease in general-purpose machinery. Ores and minerals prices also dropped by 0.2 per cent, and prices for food products, beverages, tobacco, and textiles decreased by 0.1 per cent. Prices for other transportable goods remained stable.
