Egypt’s jobless rate falls to 6.5% in Q2 ’24 – CAPMAS
Egypt’s unemployment rate dropped to 6.5 per cent in the second quarter of 2024, a 0.2 per cent decline from the previous quarter, as reported by the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Thursday.
The total labour force increased slightly to 31.423 million individuals, with 13.862 million in urban areas and 17.561 million in rural areas. Males made up 25.796 million of the workforces, while females accounted for 5.627 million.
Unemployment among males decreased to 4.2 per cent in the second quarter from 4.4 per cent in the previous quarter. However, the unemployment rate for females rose slightly from 16.5 per cent to 17.3 per cent during the same period.
