Putin urges joint efforts to tackle inflation

President Vladimir Putin has called on the Russian government and the Central Bank of Russia to enhance their coordination to combat inflation.

During a meeting on economic matters, Putin emphasised the need for systemic measures to increase the supply of goods and services to meet domestic demand.

“It is necessary to improve the effectiveness of coordinating actions to reduce inflation,” Putin stated. He highlighted the importance of aligning efforts to address both consumer demand from citizens and investment demand from enterprises engaged in development projects, modernisation, and capacity expansion.

Putin’s remarks underscore the urgency of a unified approach to stabilise prices and support economic growth in Russia.

Inflation in Russia stands at 9.54 per cent as of August 12, 2024.
