Oil Futures Pull Back As Weekly Stockpiles Surge

Hong Kong stocks gained ground early Wednesday, with exporters climbing after the Dow industrials and S&P 500 both closed at record highs overnight in the U.S. The Hang Seng Index advanced 0.3% to 22,438.88 in opening moves, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index traded 0.2% higher, and over on the Chinese mainland, the Shanghai Composite also rose 0.2%. Globally exposed names were among the leading gainers, with Lenovo Group Ltd. adding 1.7%, Esprit Holdings Ltd. up 0.6%, and Foxconn International Holdings Ltd. higher by 1.1%.

Casino shares were mixed after Tuesday data showing Macau gambling revenue hit a record high in March, with MGM China Holdings Ltd. rallying 2.4%, and Galaxy Entertainment Corp. up 0.8%, but Sands China Ltd. falling 0.6% and Wynn Macau Ltd. losing 0.2%.
