Indian govt. approves 3 railway projects

Indian Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved on Wednesday three railway projects totalling Rs. 6,456 crore (1 crore equals 10 millions).

The approved projects aim to enhance logistical efficiency by connecting previously isolated areas, increasing line capacity, and improving transport networks. This will lead to more efficient supply chains and faster economic growth.

The proposed new rail lines will improve connectivity and mobility, enhancing efficiency and reliability for Indian Railways. The multi-tracking plan will streamline operations and reduce congestion, addressing the infrastructure needs of the busiest sections of Indian Railways.

These projects align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a New India, promoting self-reliance and comprehensive development in the region to create more employment and self-employment opportunities.

These initiatives are aligned with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a “New India” that empowers its citizens through comprehensive development and enhanced employment opportunities.

The projects are part of the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan for multi-modal connectivity, which emphasises integrated planning to ensure seamless movement of people, goods, and services.

The three projects, spanning across seven districts in four states – Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Chhattisgarh – will increase the existing Indian Railways network by approximately 300 kilometres.

These projects will also lead to the construction of 14 new stations, providing improved connectivity to two aspirational districts, Nuapada and East Singhbum.

The new line projects will benefit approximately 1,300 villages and a population of around 1.1 million, while the multi-tracking project will enhance connectivity to approximately 1,300 villages and a population of around 1.9 million.
