WB launches $415m education scheme for Ukraine

The World Bank has announced a $415 million education programme aimed at improving primary and secondary education in Ukraine.

The Lifting Education Access and Resilience in Times of Need (LEARN) programme will benefit one million students, teachers, and school staff by enhancing school safety, providing free transport for vulnerable students, and supporting comprehensive education reforms aligned with EU standards.

The LEARN programme includes $235 million from the IBRD, $150 million from the IDA, and $30 million from the URTF.

The programme is part of a broader international support package for Ukraine, with the World Bank Group having facilitated over $47 billion in financing since the Russian invasion.
