UK online job ads 2% down in week

Online job adverts in the UK were 2 per cent lower in the week to 23 August 2024 compared to the previous week and 17 per cent lower than the same week in 2023.

Meanwhile, Pret A Manger stores experienced varied transaction trends, with increases in three location categories, decreases in four, and stability in three when compared to the prior week. Year-on-year, transactions fell in nine categories and remained unchanged in one.

Employee hourly wages largely remained stable across industries in July 2024, with 77.3 per cent unchanged, 7.4 per cent increasing, and 3.4 per cent decreasing.

Energy prices showed mixed trends: the System Average Price (SAP) of gas rose by 3 per cent week-on-week but fell 7 per cent year-on-year. The system price of electricity dropped by 55 per cent from the previous week and 66 per cent compared to the same week in 2023.

The daily average number of UK flights increased by 1 per cent in the week to 25 August 2024 compared to the previous week and was 3 per cent higher than the same week in 2023.
