Helicopter Set To Carry Mubarak To Court For Retrial

A medically-equipped helicopter has landed at Maadi Military Hospital in south Cairo on Saturday morning to carry ousted President Hosni Mubarak to his retrial court session, Ahram Arabic news website reported.

Meanwhile, the ministry of interior has intensified its security meassures around the Police Academy in New Cairo where the proceedings are set to take place.

The former president will be retried before a criminal court for the charges on which he was convicted last summer: turning a blind eye to the killing of demonstrators during the 18 days of Egypt’s 25 January 2011 revolution.

The indictment came with a life imprisonment sentence for the former president, who turned 85 years old on Friday.
