S&P Global: Japan’s services sector expands to 53.9 in Sep. ’24

The au Jibun Bank Flash Japan Services Business Activity Index rose to 53.9 in September from a final reading of 53.7 in August, indicating that Japan’s services sector maintained its solid growth momentum at the end of the third quarter.

The growth in the services sector was supported by a 29th consecutive monthly increase in new business activity. As a result, Japanese service providers continued to hire additional staff, despite a decline in confidence levels to a 20-month low.
