Jordan’s exports rise 1.9% in 1st 7-m of ’24

Jordan’s exports rose 1.9 per cent to JD5.366 billion during the first seven months of 2024, up from JD5.268 billion in the same period last year, according to the Department of Statistics. While national exports dipped slightly by 0.7 per cent to JD4.857 billion, re-exports surged 34.7 per cent to JD509 million.

Imports grew 0.8 per cent to JD10.742 billion, narrowing the trade deficit by 0.3 per cent to JD5.376 billion. The export-to-import coverage ratio improved to 50 per cent by July 2024, compared to 49 per cent a year earlier.

In July, total exports increased 18.5 per cent year-on-year, reaching JD922 million, while imports rose 14.3 per cent to JD1.859 billion. The trade deficit for the month expanded 10.4 per cent to JD937 million.
