EU pledges €260m to Gavi, boosts global vaccination efforts
The European Commission has announced a €260 million funding pledge to Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, for 2026–2027.
This contribution supports Gavi’s goal to protect 500 million children to enhance global health security by 2030. The new pledge follows the EU’s €300 million commitment for 2021–2025 and coincides with the final two years of the EU’s current Multiannual Financial Framework.
Additionally, President Ursula von der Leyen announced €213 million in humanitarian aid, with €69 million earmarked for Sudan and neighbouring countries, to combat food insecurity and address regional crises.
