Egypt issues Golden License for fertiliser plant

The Egyptian Cabinet has approved a golden license to the Egyptian Minerals & Salts Co. (EMISAL) to establish a potassium sulphate fertiliser plant in Shakshuk village, Ebshway Centre, Fayoum Governorate.

The facility will cover an area of 5,600 square metres and is expected to create 100 job opportunities, with an estimated investment of over 600 million Egyptian pounds.

This project aims to transfer and localise modern technologies in potassium sulphate production, contributing to reducing environmental impacts and lowering thermal and gas emissions.

Additionally, it seeks to improve the climate by addressing the increasing salinity of Lake Qarun, which threatens the ecological system within the lake’s protected area.
