Taiwan’s CPI up in Sept. ’24

Taiwan’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 0.11 per cent in September 2024 compared to the previous month. The increase was mainly driven by a 6.23 per cent rise in the fruit index due to heavy rain from Typhoon Gaemi in July.

Additionally, the services for nursery and nursing care saw a 1.60 per cent increase due to the cash gift for the Mid-Autumn Festival. However, the vegetable index and fuels/lubricants index decreased by 7.80 per cent and 1.54 per cent respectively.

The air tickets and entertainment services indices also fell by 4.12 per cent and 1.31 per cent respectively, as the summer travel season ended. The core CPI, excluding fruits, vegetables, and energy, increased by 0.16 per cent.
