URGENT: Egypt’s core inflation slightly eases to 25.0 % Y-o-Y in September – CBE

Egypt’s core consumer price index (CPI) inflation recorded 25.0 per cent year-on-year in September 2024 compared with 25.1 per cent in August 2024, central bank data showed on Wednesday.

On a monthly basis, the core CPI inflation, which excludes fuel and some volatile food items, recorded 1.0 percent in September 2024 compared with 1.1 percent in September 2023, and 0.9 percent in August 2024.

Urban headline CPI inflation for September 2024 recorded 236.5 points, reflecting a monthly inflation rate of 1.9 per cent, according to data released by the country’s official statistics agency CAPMAS earlier the day.

Annual urban headline CPI inflation for September 2024 eased to 26.0 per cent compared to 40.3 per cent recorded in the same period last year.
