Egypt observes Intl. E-waste Day, highlights recycling efforts

Egypt’s Minister of Environment, Yasmine Fouad, reviewed the Greater Cairo Air Pollution Management and Climate Change project, aimed at supporting the green economy and achieving the national climate strategy for 2050.

In a statement released by the Environment Ministry marking the International E-waste Day which falls on the 14th of October every year, the minister said that this project was approved by the President on February 29, 2024, and was funded by a $9.13 million grant from the Global Environment Facility (GEF).

The project aims to support the national action plan for persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and fulfil the requirements of the Stockholm Convention.
