Gold prices up in early trade

Gold prices climbed in early Tuesday trading, with spot gold up 0.55 per cent to $2,734.52 per ounce as of 6:33 GMT, and US gold futures rising 0.37 per cent to $2,748.95.

The increase was driven by ongoing uncertainties surrounding the US election, Middle East tensions, and expectations of interest rate cuts by central banks.
