Knauf Egypt launches 3rd factory with €80m investment
Knauf Egypt Ltd inaugurated its third gypsum board factory in Egypt on Saturday, marking an 80-million-euro investment to expand its production capabilities and deliver high-quality products for local and regional markets.
General Manager Engineer Mohamed Abdel-Rasoul highlighted that the new facility relies solely on Egyptian labour, supporting local employment.
In addition, Knauf’s German headquarters invested 600,000 euros to secure necessary raw materials, while two newly established training centres, also funded with 600,000 euros, will train around 4,000 workers annually in advanced construction techniques. Supported by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), these centres in Cairo and Alexandria are part of Knauf’s commitment to enhancing workforce skills and industry competitiveness.
By opening this new factory, Knauf demonstrates its confidence in the Egyptian economy. Equipped with cutting-edge technology, the factory has a production capacity of 60 million square meters per year, while lowering water and energy consumption by 35 per cent to reduce environmental impact.
