Thailand’s exports continue upward trend, 1.1% up in Sep. ’24
Thailand’s exports extended their growth streak for the third consecutive month in September 2024, driven by strong performances in agricultural, agro-industrial, and industrial product shipments.
According to the Ministry of Commerce’s latest report on Monday, the Thai exports increased by 1.1 per cent year-on-year to $25.98 billion in September. On a monthly basis, this represents a slowdown from the 7 per cent growth recorded in August. However, the overall trend remains positive.
Import figures also showed an upward trend, rising 9.9 per cent year-on-year to $25.58 billion in September. This resulted in a second consecutive month of a trade surplus, totalling $394.2 million.
For the first nine months of 2024, exports climbed 3.9 per cent to $223.17 billion, while imports increased by 5.5 per cent to $229.13 billion, leading to a trade deficit of $5.96 billion.
The Ministry of Commerce remains optimistic about the outlook for Thailand’s exports, despite potential challenges such as geopolitical tensions, currency fluctuations, and adverse weather conditions.
