EIB offers €500-m grant to upgrade Rome’s power grid
The European Investment Bank (EIB) and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP), backed by SACE’s Archimede guarantee, have committed €500 million to upgrade and expand Areti’s electricity infrastructure, part of ACEA Group, across Rome and Formello.
The first tranche, worth €320 million, was signed today, including €200 million directly from EIB and €120 million via CDP.
The funds will support Areti’s investment plan to improve resilience and energy efficiency by digitalising the grid, expanding smart meter technology, and enhancing automation in line with the EU’s REPowerEU goals for renewable integration.
