Russia’s National Wealth Fund hits $116b
The volume of Russia’s National Wealth Fund (NWF) reached 11.88 trillion roubles ($116.04 billion) as of January 1, 2025, equivalent to 6.2 per cent of the GDP projected for 2024, according to the Russian Finance Ministry.
The fund’s liquid assets amounted to 3.81 trillion roubles ($37.47 billion), or 2 per cent of GDP.
In December 2024, the Finance Ministry sold 55.49 billion yuan and 58.96 tons of gold from the fund, raising 1.3 trillion roubles to finance the federal budget deficit. The proceeds were deposited into the federal budget’s unified account, the ministry reported.
