Egypt’s Awad reviews EGP 38m revamp of Ataba market

Egypt’s Minister of Local Development Manal Awad inspected the ongoing works of the EGP 38-million first phase of Ataba market redevelopment in the Moski area, monitoring infrastructure upgrades and restoration of historic streets and buildings.

The project is financed through the ministry’s investment plan and aims to revitalise the area’s commercial landscape and pedestrian accessibility, according to a statement published by the Cabinet on Sunday.

Awad confirmed the completion of 100 per cent of the utility upgrades and infrastructure replacement in the area. She also reviewed a sample of restored storefront façades, emphasising the importance of preserving the area’s architectural heritage in coordination with the National Organisation for Urban Harmony.

Speaking with local shopowners, the minister said the redevelopment would offer a safe, dignified environment that serves both businesses and visitors, adding that the project could serve as a model for similar upgrades in other parts of the city.
