Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib on Thursday carried out an inspection tour of the General Free Zone in Nasr City. He reviewed operations and expansion plans at several key industrial sites with a combined investment value exceeding $137 million, as per a ministry statement.
El-Khatib visited Leoni Wiring Systems Egypt, which assembles and manufactures wiring and electrical systems for European automotive factories. With an investment of $13.8 million, the company operates across three free zones—in Nasr City, Robiki (Badr City), and Assiut—and provides around 4,395 jobs.
He also visited Methode Electronics Egypt Ltd., which manufactures a wide range of automotive electronic systems, including switches, control units, connectors, circuit boards, and lighting components. The company exports 80 per cent of its output and has invested €37.2 million in a 15,634-square-metre facility that employs around 1,833 workers.
The also visited Mintra Egypt for Industry and Trade, a manufacturer of stationery, office supplies, plastic household items, bags, bedding, and non-leather footwear. The company operates facilities in Nasr City, 6th of October City, and 10th of Ramadan, with a total investment of $86.4 million and around 1,944 jobs provided.
El-Khatib’s tour highlighted the growing role of Egypt’s free zones in attracting industrial investment and creating employment across key manufacturing sectors.
