Egypt’s Countryside Development Company (ECDC) signed a land allocation contract with Green Lab for Agricultural Reclamation to develop a 10,844-feddan project for cultivating and processing Majdoul dates in Al-Farafra, the Cabinet said on Wednesday.
ECDC Chairman Amr Abdel Wahab said the project aligns with Egypt’s plan to become a leading global producer of dates, featuring a fully integrated facility for processing and packaging to international standards.
Green Lab CEO Ayman El Sayed described the venture as a sustainable investment under the NRDC umbrella, designed to boost exports, support national economic growth and generate hundreds of jobs in desert areas.
The project will employ modern agricultural technologies and smart farming methods, focusing on water conservation and environmental sustainability, while strengthening Egypt’s position in the global dates market.
