Egypt’s expat remittances jump 45.1% to record $30.2b in first 9 months: CBE

Remittances from Egyptians working abroad surged 45.1 per cent in the first nine months of 2025 to an unprecedented $30.2 billion, the Central Bank of Egypt said on Monday.

The inflows, up from $20.8 billion in the same period last year, mark one of the strongest performances on record and come as the government looks to shore up foreign currency supplies.

On a monthly basis, remittances rose 30.9 per cent in September to about $3.6 billion, compared with $2.7 billion in September 2024, the central bank said.

The sharp increase provides a boost to Egypt’s external financing position as it continues efforts to stabilise the currency and attract fresh investment.
