Egyptian airports post record passenger, flight growth in 2025

Passenger traffic at Egyptian airports surged 22.3 per cent in 2025, while the number of flights rose over 20 per cent, marking a record-breaking year for the country’s aviation sector, the Ministry of Civil Aviation said Thursday.

According to official data, airports operated by the Egyptian Airports Company handled around 28 million passengers in 2025, up from 22.9 million a year earlier. The figure includes both arriving and departing travelers.

The total number of flights climbed to about 209,800 in 2025, up from 173,800 in 2024, reflecting higher operating rates and sustained efficiency, the ministry said.

The growth was driven by a sharp rise in international travel, particularly to airports serving Egypt’s main tourist destinations, during the winter season and the Christmas and New Year holidays.

The ministry said the civil aviation system continues to closely monitor airport operations around the clock to ensure high safety and security standards, smooth passenger flow, and faster processing during peak travel periods, supporting improved service quality and operational performance.
