Egypt’s annual core inflation eases to 11.2% in January – CBE

Egypt’s annual core inflation fell to 11.2 per cent in January from 11.8 per cent in December, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) said on Tuesday.

On a monthly basis, core consumer prices recorded 1.2 per cent in January, compared with 0.2 per cent in December 2025 and 1.7 per cent in January 2025, the central bank added.

Core inflation, which excludes volatile items such as food and energy, is closely monitored by policymakers as an indicator of potential future interest rate decisions.

The CBE is scheduled to release its full inflation bulletin on 15 Feb..
