Egypt prepares ambitious healthcare investment plan for FY2026/27

Egypt’s Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar has directed officials to prepare an investment plan for the 2026/2027 fiscal year aimed at upgrading healthcare infrastructure, expanding medical services, and improving the quality of care nationwide, the health ministry said Wednesday.

The plan includes increased spending on priority projects such as modernising hospitals and medical centres and providing advanced medical equipment, according to a ministry statement.

During a meeting with senior officials to review the proposed framework, Abdel Ghaffar stressed the need to allocate sufficient funding to develop healthcare facilities and accelerate the rollout of Egypt’s comprehensive health insurance system across targeted governorates.

He also called for strengthening public health and preventive services to help curb the spread of diseases and improve health outcomes.

The minister instructed officials to speed up digital transformation in the health sector, upgrade public health offices, and enhance data management systems to support more efficient decision-making and coordination across healthcare services.

The measures are part of broader efforts to improve healthcare services under Egypt’s Vision 2030 development strategy, the ministry said.
