Egypt’s Suez Canal Authority, Egypt TEDA discuss expanded industrial and logistics cooperation

Egypt’s Suez Canal Authority Chairman Osama Rabie, met on Tuesday with Wei Jianqing, Vice Chairman of Egypt TEDA Investment and General Manager of Teda China-Africa, to discuss strengthening cooperation in industrial and logistics sectors.

Rabie stressed the Authority’s commitment to integrating efforts with the Suez Canal Economic Zone and coordinating with developers and investors to maximise the canal’s strategic value, aiming to position the surrounding area as a global industrial and logistics hub. He also expressed openness to expanded cooperation with Teda, a key industrial developer in Ain Sokhna.

Wei Jianqing expressed keenness to deepen cooperation with the Suez Canal Authority and expand joint work serving mutual interests, noting the strong growth of the Teda Industrial Zone over the past five years, supported by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and reflecting stronger Egypt China relations.

The two sides discussed further developing the Teda Industrial Zone, linking it to integrated logistics systems and service cities, and enhancing use of Suez Canal maritime services. They also explored cooperation in localising marine manufacturing and expanding maintenance and repair services through the Authority’s shipyards, agreeing to open direct communication with Chinese companies in the sector.
