Egypt’s AOI signs defence manufacturing deal with Nigeria’s Vinicius

Egypt’s Arab Organisation for Industrialisation (AOI) signed a memorandum of understanding with Nigeria’s Vinicius Group to cooperate in defence manufacturing and technology transfer, the organisation said on Monday, as Egypt seeks to expand industrial partnerships across Africa.

The agreement includes cooperation to meet some requirements of Nigeria’s Ministry of Defence. It will focus on technology transfer, local manufacturing, workforce training, and maintenance capabilities, according to an AOI statement.

AOI General Director Abdel Rahman Abdel Azim and Vinicius Chairman Saifullahi Chanji Babangida signed the memorandum.

AOI Chairman Mokhtar Abdel Latif said the partnership supports Egypt’s efforts to strengthen industrial cooperation with African countries and expand export opportunities.

The two sides also agreed to establish implementation mechanisms and timelines for joint projects and to explore opportunities for exports to African and Arab markets through government contracts.

Babangida said Vinicius aims to cooperate with AOI in localising manufacturing technologies and developing production capabilities in Nigeria.

The agreement forms part of AOI’s strategy to expand exports and industrial partnerships in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030 development programme.
