Egypt, Türkiye seek ‘remarkable leap’ in energy, mining cooperation

Egypt and Türkiye discussed expanding cooperation in the energy and mining sectors on Monday, including new investment opportunities in oil, gas, and mineral resources, Egypt’s Petroleum Ministry said.

Egyptian Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawy met Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar on the sidelines of Baku Energy Week in Azerbaijan, following talks held in Istanbul in April.

The ministers reviewed ways to strengthen cooperation in the oil, natural gas, and mining industries and explored potential investment opportunities in Egypt, according to a ministry statement.

They also discussed mechanisms to accelerate collaboration through joint working groups involving government institutions and private-sector companies from both countries.

The talks come as Egypt seeks to attract additional investment in its energy and mining sectors and expand regional partnerships aimed at increasing exploration, production, and value-added industrial activities.

The two sides agreed to maintain coordination and continue discussions to advance potential projects and deepen bilateral cooperation, the statement said.
