Egypt contains fire on gas vessels at Damietta Port with no casualties
A fire aboard a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) and a connected gas storage vessel at Egypt’s Damietta port was brought under control on Wednesday, with no casualties reported, the petroleum ministry said.
The ministry said emergency response and firefighting teams contained the fire in line with safety procedures and that no injuries or fatalities were reported.
Petroleum Minister Karim Badawy travelled to Damietta to inspect the site and oversee follow-up measures with technical and safety teams, the ministry said.
An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire and assess any impact on operations, it added.
The ministry urged media outlets and the public to rely on official statements for updates while technical teams complete safety inspections.
