Egypt, Qatari Diar review North Coast development project
Alam El-Roum planned as year-round mixed-use destination
Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly on Wednesday reviewed progress on the mega Alam El-Roum development project with Qatari Diar CEO Sheikh Hamad Bin Talal Al-Thani, as the two sides advanced plans for a mixed-use project on Egypt’s northwestern Mediterranean coast.
The project is being developed through a partnership between the Egyptian government and Qatari Diar to transform the Alam El-Roum area into a year-round urban and tourism destination, supporting Egypt’s efforts to expand investment and economic activity along its North Coast.
During the meeting, the officials reviewed the project’s master plan, implementation progress, and the main components of the development.
Madbouly said the project will include residential, hospitality, commercial, healthcare, educational, and entertainment facilities as part of an integrated urban development.
Sheikh Hamad Bin Talal Al-Thani said Qatari Diar plans to implement the project in partnership with leading international companies to support its development.
He added that the project is intended to operate as a year-round city rather than a seasonal resort, in line with Egypt’s strategy to expand permanent urban communities and tourism investment along the Mediterranean coast.
