Egyptian shares closed higher on Sunday, with the benchmark EGX30 index climbing 1.09 per cent while small- and mid-cap stocks also outperformed.
The EGX30, which tracks Egypt’s largest and most actively traded companies, ended at 55,854.74 points. The EGX33 Shariah index gained 2.01 per cent to 6,694.58 points, while the EGX35-LV rose 0.61 per cent to 6,898.54 points.
The EGX70 index, which tracks small- and mid-cap stocks, rose 0.21 per cent to 21,634.69 points, while the broader EGX100 gained 0.42 per cent to 28,013.52 points.
Market capitalisation stood at 4.310 trillion Egyptian pounds.
Egyptian investors were net buyers, with purchases totalling 553.785 million pounds.
Non-Arab foreign and Arab investors were net sellers, recording net sales of 234.125 million pounds and 319.659 million pounds, respectively.
