Sisi inaugurates Egypt Mining Forum 2026

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi inaugurated the fifth edition of the Egypt Mining Forum 2026 on Monday in Cairo, with more than 6,000 participants from over 50 countries, alongside more than 500 delegates, 100 speakers, and 100 exhibiting companies.

Held under Sisi’s patronage and hosted by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, the forum brings together ministers, mining executives, investors, international institutions, and technical leaders to discuss Egypt’s efforts to boost mineral exploration, attract investment, and develop commercially viable mining projects.

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi outlined the government’s mining investment agenda, including reforms to licensing, fiscal terms, fees, permitting, and exploration incentives.

Badawi highlighted the restructuring of the Mineral Resources Authority into the Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority as an economic authority, the introduction of a one-stop-shop service for investors, and a new model for gold exploitation agreements.

The forum’s opening ceremony also featured Alberto Calderon, CEO and Executive Director of AngloGold Ashanti; Doug Horak, CEO of the Australia-Africa Minerals & Energy Group; Rohitesh Dhawan, President and CEO of the International Council on Mining and Metals; and Namrata Thapar, Global Director of Metals and Minerals at the World Bank Group.

Held on September 28–29 under the theme “Unlocking Egypt and the Arabian Nubian Shield’s Exploration Potential,” the forum covers investment frameworks, critical minerals, base metals, responsible gold value chains, project development, and mining technologies.
