CAPMAS: Tourism 52% Down in October

The number of the tourists that coming from different countries across the world decreased by 52%in October, compared to the same month last year, from 1.2 million tourists during 2012, to 559.000 tourists in 2013, according to the monthly tourism bulletin released on Wednesday by the state-run statistics agency the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

CAPMAS’ bulletin further stated that Eastern Europe provided the lion’s share of October tourists, followed by those from Western Europe and then elsewhere in the Middle East.

The number of the touristic nights in October 2013 reached 3.9 million nights, in return for 13.2 million ones in October 2012, 70.4% down.

Arab tourists captured the lion’s share of October touristic nights, followed by those from Western Europe and then Western Europe.

CAPMAS further added that the number of tourists coming from the Arab countries reached 120.000 in October 2013, compared to 221.000 in October 2012, plunged by 45.6%.

Moreover, the number of the touristic nights spent by the Arab tourists amounted to 1.5 million nights in October 2013, in return for 4 million ones in October 2012, 61.5% down.

The average number of the touristic nights at the same period reached 8.6 nights per a tourist, opposed to 12.6 nights in October 2012.
