Egyptian police said they apprehended the perpetrators of a church attack in 6 October city west of Cairo on Tuesday afternoon.
The drive-by shooting on the Virgin Mary Coptic Church killed a policeman and injured another.
A firefight ensued between the attackers and police guarding the church, which ended in the apprehension of the gunmen, according to police.
Police stopped the attacking car, said an interior ministry statement, and arrested its driver, Mohamed Abdel-Hamid Ibrahim as well as a passenger, Ahmed Mohamed Abdel-Rahman.
Both attackers were injured in the aftermath. One sustained an injury to his back and the other to his hand, the statement said, adding that an automatic rifle and a shotgun were found in the car.
