Telecom Egypt (TE)(ETAL-CA) illustrated that it did not received any request from Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Ministry or from National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) regarding delaying the activation date of mobile phone licence.
The Ministry specified three phases to start integrated licence, Phase I by TE’s obtaining the fixed licence without frequencies worth EGP2.5billion.
Phase II includes providing opportunity to the operators by obtaining new frequencies through a tender, in addition granting the operators the right to operate their own international gateway valued at EGP1.8billion for Vodafone and EGP1.5billion for Mobinil and 6% participation from the revenues of the two operators annually, so that the country will obtain EGP8 for each subscriber in Etisalat Egypt.
