Head of the Jewish community in Egypt Magda Haroun condemned the latest Palestinian-Israeli conflict on Wednesday, accusing both parties of extremism, reported Al-Ahram’s Arabic new website.
“The innocent pay the price of the extremism of both Israel and Hamas,” Haroun said during an event for religious minorities in the Shaar Hashomayim Synagogue celebrating the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.
Haroun is a leader for the Jews still living in Egypt, which she says are only 19 people. Her comments came as the death toll from Israel’s two-day military operations in Gaza reached 57 including children and women, AFP reported.
