Egypt’s minister of communications Atef Helmy said that Telecom Egypt (TE) (ETEL-CA) won’t be able to continue successfully in the market without providing mobile services, AlSherouk reported on Wednesday.
He added that this was the result of discussions and studies by the firm’s board of directors for two years, before offering the unified license to ensure the benefit for the company.
The minister said that the studies were through and does not risk the telecoms firm status.
Helmy said, on the sidelines of Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX), that the completion of the license procedures is going at a steady pace, although it is slow, but that’s in favor of the four operators.
