Egypt’s Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab and Cairo Governor Galal Saeed have visited today the site of the national housing project in Al Salam City in North of Cairo that aims to upgrade the slums.
The project is established by Ma’an (Together) Foundation for Developing Slums in association with Cairo’s governorate.
Ma’an is a non-profit, civil Egyptian Foundation that was registered at the Ministry of Social Solidarity, under No. 610 of 2011. It aims to develop unsafe slums through enhancing slum-dwellers’ skills at both the educational and social levels. The Foundation is led by a Board of Trustees, which includes Egyptian elites most prominently actor Mohammed Sobhy, who seek bringing about radical changes in the Egyptian society.
The project encompasses 5,000 residential units in addition to necessary services to establish complete society: schools, mosques, churches, firefighting units, health centers, and entertainment areas.
In the same vein, the Egyptian government decided to allocate 70 feddans in Al Salam City to bring the project into effect.
