Egypt’s exports of leather and footwear recorded around 1.4 billion Egyptian pounds (US$195.7 million) during the period from January to November 2014, according to the Leather Export Council.
The exports registered a 19% y-o-y increase from 1.2 billion pounds a year earlier.
According to the foreign trade sector’s report, the leather tanning exports have reached around 1.3 billion in the last 11 months of 2014. The footwear exports have hit 80 million pounds approximately; while the leather goods and textile attained 20 million pounds.
Furthermore, the report referred that the EU countries capture the lion’s share of Egyptian exports of leather and footwear, attaining 921 million pounds.
