Cairo is to host the first meetings for the expert committee responsible for the free trade negotiations with the Eurasian Economic Union on September 10th, 2015, minister of trade and industry announced.
Minister Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour made his remarks Friday during a panel discussion held in St. Petersburg International Economic Forum with Viktor Khristenko, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, and in presence of Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov.
The participants of the panel discussion confirm Egyptian and Eurasian willingness to Egypt’s accession to the Economic Union. The Eurasian Economic Union includes Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and recently joined-member Kyrgyzstan.
Egypt will join the union through signing a free trade agreement that would lift the tariff restrictions and trade boundaries to increase the trade activities between Cairo and the union’s member countries.
