Egypt received around 202,000 Asian tourists during the first six months of 2016 opposed to 197,000 tourists during the same period of 2015, registering a growth rate of 2.7 percent.
Speaking to Amwal Al Ghad Sunday, Chairperson of Egypt’s Tourism Development Authority (TDA), Sami Mahmoud stated that the Chinese market was the largest exporter of tourism to Egypt.
During the first half of 2016, around 85,000 Chinese tourists visited Egypt versus 63,000 tourists a year earlier, the official clarified.
The number of Indian tourists who visited Egypt in January-June 2016 recorded 39,000 tourists opposed to 41,000 tourists at the same period of 2015.
Mahmoud clarified that the number of Japanese tourists who visited Egypt hit around 8,000 during the first six months of 2016 compared to 9,700 a year earlier.
